Chestnut Round Farmtable
$235.00 sq. ft.
Round pedestal table made with reclaimed chestnut. Many barns and homes east of the Mississippi were built with this strong hardwood at the turn of the last century. However the tree was nearly wiped out by blight in the early 1900’s and it is virtually gone today. Through our network of suppliers and crew who carefully take apart these barns, Saltwoods can build your custom table from this elusive wood. It typically has warm brown tones, and strong grain patterns. The lead time for a chestnut table may be somewhat longer as the material is scarce, yet the end result is always astonishing. This pedestal is best suited for a 45″ – 54″ round table top. We recommended a dark stain or paint for the base.

FAQ
We are currently at 10-12 weeks standard from day of deposit. Express options are available upon request.
There's no wrong answer here. We stand by each finish we offer, either a natural oil or varnish finish. Each finish has advantages and disadvantages and depends on your lifestyle and needs.
Here at the wood-shop we always like to recommend a natural oil/wax finish. Timeless, classic, natural feeling and color of the wood. With an oil finish, you can repair any damaged area yourself. Natural oil does require maintenance on the client's end. Extra coats of oil early on helps protect the wood for decades to come. With varnish, there is zero maintenance on your end, but similar to your floors or cabinets, if the varnish is scratched, it cannot be repaired.
